Soldering an ecu

April 10th, 2008 · Comments Off

This “black art” of the electronics industry is shunned and feared by many.

There is no real reason for it though, because with the right tools and some practice anyone with a steady hand can solder basic electronics. Okay, I must admit that like with all arts, there are some geniuses running around that can make the tiniest pitch of smd look like it was done with an smd placement machine. This article is to make things clearer for the beginner that wants to start soldering his own electronics projects.

The KWP2000 tool was originally made by Cartech SAS. It has since then become the most copied chiptuning tool and has been available on all kinds of webshops and places like ebay. There is a new and updated version of this tool available now, called MPPS. This tool is made by www.amtcartech.co.uk and distributed by www.chiptunawarehouse.com

This chiptuning flashtool operates through the kwp2000 standard protocol and is not meant to read error codes or run diagnostics. It reads the complete content of the memory chip of your ecu and allows you to save it and write a modified version back into the ecu. This article explains the safe operation of this tool and is a sort of howto on using the kwp2000

Exhaust gas temperature or the short : EGT.

In tuning turbocharged engines this is and should be a major concern regarding longevity of your engine and turbo.

By altering injection times, the start of injection, the injected amount and the turbo pressure you will in effect alter the temperature of the exhaust gasses that flow through the turbocharger.
